Here's an email we recently received from a customer: Hello Karen & Marlin: Wanted to write to tell you how happy I am with my Wallenstein BX 42 chipper. I had to shorten the driveshaft a bit before I could use it but that was no big deal. I was also a little concerned about the gravity feed feature until I tried it for the first time. I had only used self-powered, hydraulic-feed chippers in the past so I didn't quite know what to expect with the PTO-driven, gravity-feed type. I was quite impressed with both the ease of feeding (most material feeds itself all the way in) and with the quality of the chips (consistent size and few unbroken twigs). The discharge chute also works well in both the distance and direction of chip placement. It is quite easy to fill wheelbarrows with chips with very little mess on the ground. The chipper is well matched to my 30 hp Kioti (CK30 HST) tractor and it runs effortlessly with no "bogging down" of the engine and not a single jam in about 20 hours of use so far. I've been chipping mostly hardwood up to 4 inches diameter. Even my dad, who is a conservative "Old Yankee", has commented that the chipper was a "good investment".
